English for Specific Purposes World Web-based Journal

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

http://www.esp-world.info/

From the website: “The idea of a web-based journal was first voiced at the turn of the centuries by Simon Winetroube, then ELT Projects’ Officer at the British Council, Russia. It was later discussed at the 8th ESP Anti-conference in St. Petersburg in October, 2001. Most Most participants agreed that it could benefit the international ESP community, if we had an easily accessible electonic periodical with contributions and readership from various countries.

“This publication, however, would not have been possible without the support that came from English Language Teaching Contacts Scheme and the British Council, Russia. We are very grateful for the assistance that we got from them, especially at the initial stages of the project, and would also like to thank those ESP enthusiasts who spared no time and effort to get the web-site started.

“Anyone who can help with this endeavour, please contact Vitali Ashkinzi, the Journal’s Managing Editor, at this e-mail address ashvital@gmail.com. Contribute your ideas, knowledge, ESP and IT expertise.

“On behalf of the Jounal’s management team Ludmila Kuznetsova, Editor-in-chief Russian ESP project co-ordinator”

ESL Lab

Friday, July 28th, 2006

http://www.esl-lab.com/

From the website: “The site has been designed with the specific goal and narrow focus of providing easy-to-use listening activities that can be used on almost any Internet connection. Of course, many more kinds of interactive listening activities, test-question types, and accents are possible, and I look forward to seeing others launching their own sites with these features in mind. In my case, I wanted to give depth, not breadth (rather than snippets of this and that), to my original concept, one reason being the large time commitment just to create one activity. “
